open quote marks This is a wonderful film with a large cast of totally credible characters which avoids every cliché without being consciously modernist, minimalist or any other modish -ist. The problems of people riven between two disparate cultures & religions, coupled with town life vs country, are explored sensitively without ever descending into sermonising. It is difficult to stop thinking about these people whom we seem to have known for years, not for two short hours. What a pity the screening was so badly attended on account of a football match. open quote marks
