Richard Alston Dance Company

It was wonderful to see this company back here again. As usual they are so compelling to watch; the 4 girls and 4 boys dancing so well together in every combination. Jonathan Goddard certainly showed why he has recently been named as Best Male Dancer, the first non ballet receipient of this prestigious award. It was fascinating to see Richard Alstons choreographic versatility when watching the first two pieces, the contract in choreography and music couldn't have been more extreme. This was followed by Martin Lawrence's 'Brink', a wonderful piece of imagry and then Richard Alstons new work 'Shuffle It Right' following Gypsy Mixture and Devil in the Detail it uses all the dancers versatility - lovely to see Pierre like a coiled spring and Jon again giving his all, and finishing with Stardust, a most beautiful female solo exquisityly danced.
