From the reviews and synopses I expected a charming and humorous account of a young man’s relationship with his father. What I got was a morbid, depressing and unneccessarily detailed depiction of a sick man’s demise and death. Although mildly amusing, the flashbacks are insufficient to counterbalance the overbearing gloom. Wit is minimal and as the father slides towards his end litt...... more
