Author Colin Dexter will talk about his best-known
creation, Inspector Morse. He will explain how Morse
was adapted for TV and tell us what John Thaw was
really like. After retiring from a 13 year teaching career, Colin
Dexter began writing novels after reading a crime novel
during a family holiday which he felt he could have
written better. His first novel Last Bus To Woodstockwas published in 1975. His famous character Inspector Morse has since appeared in 13 novels and numerous short stories.
Inspector Morse was later adapted for the small screen and became a huge TV success starring John Thaw and Kevin Whately in over 30 episodes. This event is kindly supported by The Malvern Festival, which celebrates its 80th Anniversary with a major festival in 2009.
