Compagnia d'Opera Italiana di Milano present
La Traviata
traditionally staged & sung in Italian
with full orchestra and chorus
La Traviata is one of the most famous operas of all time. Based on the novel La Dame aux Camelias by Alexandre Dumas fils, its story of tragic love has captivated audiences for over 150 years. Recently, the opera was the inspiration for the hit film Moulin Rouge.
Musical highlights include the famous Act One ‘drinking
song’ (Libiamo ne’lieti Calici) and Violetta’s beautiful
farewell aria (Addio del Passato) in Act Three. This traditional production of La Traviata sees the
Compagnia d’Opera Italiana di Milano return to Malvern
after the success of their La Boheme last year.
The company has given some three thousand
performances throughout Europe and will sing the
opera in its original Italian accompanied by full
orchestra and chorus.
