Inspired by the storytelling magic of ABBA’s songs Mamma Mia is about an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island, Donna is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited daughter she’s raised alone. For Sophie’s wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends from her one time backing band Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.

open quote marks Mamma Mia. Sheer fun and escapism. You'll laugh, sing and cry all the way through! Yes - probably at the same time! The photography is stunning; Meryl Streep is fantastic; 007 and Mr. Darcy in lycra have to be seen to be believed. open quote marks The first few minutes is a bit slow but this is the only film I have ever liked with Meryl Streep in it. Its fabulous. Abba is perhaps the only group that had so many hit songs that they could make a complete film out of them. The story has twists and turns that keep you interested all through.
