Raymond Gubbay presents
The Russian State Ballet of Siberia
Giselle, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty & The Nutcracker
GISELLE
Monday 15th & Tuesday 16th March at 7.30pm
The most poignant of all classical ballets combines powerful emotions and visual splendour in a chilling and heart-rending tale of love, treachery and forgiveness from beyond the grave.
The story of Giselle and her aristocratic but duplicitous lover Albrecht is set to a glorious score and brought to life by the magnificent costumes and virtuoso performances of the Russian State Ballet of Siberia.
SLEEPING BEAUTY
Thursday 18th & Friday 19th March at 7.30pm
Every child’s favourite fairy tale, this is the classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score. Stunning choreography, sumptuous costumes and wonderful sets form the fantasy world in which the Lilac Fairy struggles against the evil Carabosse.
SWAN LAKE
Wednesday 17th March at 2.30pm & 7.30pm
The greatest romantic ballet of all! This is an immortal love story filled with magic, emotion and beauty. From the opulence and splendour of the magnificent court room to the exhilarating lake scenes where swans play in perfect formation, Tchaikovsky’s hauntingly beautiful music creates a truly unforgettable experience.
THE NUTCRACKER
Saturday 20 March at 2.30pm & 7.30pm
In a magical production, this most famous of fantasy ballets begins as night falls on a traditional fireside scene on Christmas Eve. On the stroke of midnight we are transported to an enchanting world where nothing is as it seems, as toy dolls come to life and an army of soldiers does battle with a gang of mice and a Nutcracker is transformed into a handsome prince.
Formed in 1981, the Russian State Ballet of Siberia has quickly established itself as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies and has built an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and unusual depth. The soloists and corps de ballet are superb, and never fail to delight audiences with their breathtaking physical ability and dazzling costumes.
