Mischief, mystery and comic chaos are perfectly entwined in this uplifting ballet. When eccentric toymaker Dr Coppélius creates a beautiful living doll, he unwittingly unleashes havoc in his local village. Magical sets, enchanting costumes and dancing toys fill the stage in this joyous tale of mistaken identity and the search for the perfect woman.

This was a clumsy and uneventful production, The staging was cramped and the dancing limited, choreography was so poor that the third act became a technical display of limited means. The storytelling was at best clumsy and at worst non existent, The orchestra had a horn section which sounded like a provincial brass band. The trombone especially garish.
