Hugely enjoyable, both the great acting and the witty script. The final scene - the actors mouthing the words to a Verdi operatic quartet - is a tour de force, and, I imagine, horribly difficult!
The play's first two-thirds builds up suspense, both as to what happened in the past and as to how the characters are going to cope with the future, in particular their concert. Some serious ...... more
I admit that the main attraction to this play was Gwen Taylor, who is a fine actress and always worth seeing. However, with the other 'names' starring alongside her I was all the more intrigued.
It did not disappoint, it was like watching a masterclass! Comic timing from both Gwen Taylor and Timothy West was spot on. The chemistry between Susannah York and Michael Jayston was at times v...... more
