Following the success of the awardwinning BBC television series, Bill Kenwright presents a fresh new revival of Keith Dewhurst’s acclaimed National Theatre adaptation, first seen in 1978 and nominated for two Olivier Awards. Seen through the eyes of young Laura Timms, the play follows a day in the life and relationships of the farm workers, craftsmen and gentry of the fictional hamlet of Lark Rise at the end of the nineteenth century. It is the first day of harvest, and the villagers celebrate with the simple pleasures of music, song and dance, creating a moving and evocative picture of a forgotten England.

open quote marks Have seen many excellent productions at Malvern; this was not one. Came on 8th December and the cast seemed tired and lacklustre (perhaps a long run?). There seemed to be some mis-casting, neither Sara Crowe nor Eric Richard (her husband) seemd to fit - he was too patrician. At times it was hard to hear the diction (I was in F19) and the scene before the interval - the men in the field -...... more open quote marks
