Additional Auditions!

 

Malvern Theatres Young Company is delighted to announce its summer musical for 2024.

 

We are looking for Male identifying actors aged 14 – 26yrs to join our young company this summer for Fame the Musical!

 

We would like to see actors for the following roles plus ensemble parts:

Schlomo: Strong vocals, good acting skills, no dance element.

Tyrone: An accomplished dancer who can sing.

Joe: Good vocals and acting skills, some basic dance.

Nick: Good vocals and acting skills, no dance element.

The professionally led experience will be directed and choreographed by Andy Reiss and Katie Leeming of Beyond the Barricade Company.

We are looking for performers with a strong work ethic and a passion for theatre. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre setting and to develop all of their performance skills.

As part of the intensive three-week training programme, participants will improve their confidence, technique, and delivery on stage by gaining a practical understanding of how to produce polished professional work through an intensive rehearsal process.

Working with a professional creative team makes this an ideal experience for anyone interested in gaining significant performance experience in a supportive environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and growth. It also allows participants to learn from experienced professionals and gain invaluable insight into the industry. This experience will also provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in the performing arts.
 
PROJECT INFORMATION

Rehearsals – Monday 5th August – Monday 19th August 2024

Performances – Tuesday 20th August – Saturday 24th August 2024

Malvern Theatres, Forum Theatre

Due to the intensive rehearsal process, participants must be available for all of the dates. In addition to these dates, there will also be a vocal rehearsal arranged in June/July once casting is confirmed.

Malvern Theatres Young Company was established in 2012 and aims to create a unique opportunity for talented performers to experience life in a theatre.

Working with a full professional team, including directors, choreographers, costume, set and lighting designers, Malvern Theatres Young Company allows young people the chance to be involved in a professionally staged theatre production; empowering them to take their first steps into this exciting career.

We invite young people wanting to pursue a career in the creative aspects of theatre making to be part of a team that is professionally led. There will be creative opportunities for students to demonstrate original creative thinking alongside these productions and also other projects that will be happening here throughout the year.

There are opportunities for you to get involved in our summer project which offers professional training in all aspects of drama performance. It is the one time where you can be involved with productions that are delivered ‘in-house’, working to a tight schedule you have the chance to be part of productions that are performed in The Festival Theatre and Forum Theatre.

 


Work Experience at Malvern Theatres

If you are studying theatre, drama or a related subject and are required to undertake a placement as part of your degree or equivalent course, we would be happy to hear from you. Please state your area(s) of interest or expertise, college/university or equivalent institution, course title, course leader, your year of study and an idea of your availability.

We do offer a week long work experience placements but these places are very limited so do get in touch well in advance of your preferred slot. Work experience is offered for GCSE, A ‘level and BTec students and occasionally undergraduate students. We strictly only consider applications from individuals aged 16 years and above at the time of their placement, but places are limited.
