20th Century Women

7th April 2017 - 13th April 2017

Golden Globe nominated film 20th Century Women is the story of three women who explore love and freedom in Southern California during the late 1970s.

Realising that her old-school methods and ideology are too often falling upon deaf ears, Dorothea Fields (Annette Bening) seeks help from two young women in a bid to connect with her son, Jamie (Lucas Jade Zumann) – Abbie (Greta Gerwig) is a carefree photographer lodging with the Field’s, and Julie (Elle Fanning) is the family’s provocative and streetwise neighbour.

Together, the three do their best to instil structure into Jamie’s life, and set about educating him on the ways of women, and the joys and woes of life, love and loss.

Written and directed by Mike Mills, 20th Century Women is a sharp and well-observed coming-of-age drama that has been praised by critics for its subtle humour and authentic depiction of Southern California in the late 1970s.

The picture stars the accomplished talents of Annette Bening (American Beauty), as well as Greta Gerwig (Jackie) and Elle Fanning (The Neon Demon).
