Phoenix Dance Theatre
14th November 2017
Event Navigation
Phoenix Dance Theatre return to Malvern to present three diverse, emotional, and sassy dances in one thrilling and thought-provoking performance.
Beginning with Calyx, a new piece for 2017 by company dancer Sandrine Monin: this beautiful work explores the theme of desire, inspired by ‘The Flowers of Evil’ by Charles Baudelaire.
Next, Beast, by choreographer Douglas Thorpe immerses the audience into the darkest reaches of the mind, using six dancers in a powerful, intimidating and uncompromising performance.
Lastly, Aletta Collins’ Maybe Yes Maybe, Maybe No Maybe uses a live microphone to blend movement and voices into a pulsating soundtrack, in a work described by The Times as ‘sparky, mischievous…crowd-pleasing’.
“the Leeds-based company can pride itself on being one of Britain’s most enduring dance institutions […] it’s never lost sight of its underlying brand – mixing the popular mainstream with the unexpected and unpredictable.” The Guardian
