Murder in Play

11th September 2017 - 16th September 2017

Malvern Theatre Players (resident company of the Coach House Theatre)

41st season present

(by permission of Samuel Frech Ltd)

Murder in Play

by Simon Brett

Boris Smolensky’s budget repertory company’s production of “Murder at Priorswell Manor” is looking decidedly shaky. The cast are more interested in their egos than the play, and life imitates art when Boris’s wife Renee is murdered on stage.

Rehearsals are not going well!!

It seems that each of this inept group of actors could have had a motive for murder. Could it have been Christa, a fading TV soap actress; or Boris himself, the monstrous director; or even Ginette, his pretty, but dippy mistress? And can anyone put up with old Harrison’s dire theatrical anecdotes for much longer?

The hilarious text employs a play within a play device to ruthlessly satirise the politics of the various characters, and the numerous red herrings keep the audience guessing until the final moments of the play.

“It’s the laughs that matter and there are barrels of them”

“An evening of head-scratching whodunnit and big belly laughs”
