Birmingham Royal Ballet: Peter and the Wolf & Seasons in our World

21st May 2019 - 22nd May 2019

A perfect adventure into dance.

Classical ballet, spoken word and eye-catching physical theatre combine in this reimagining of Sergei Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf. Join our heroine, Peter, and her best friend, Bird, as their day out takes an unexpected turn. Narration by poet Hollie McNish.

Inspired by a poem by ballet-fan David Laing, Seasons in our World explores the relationship between the cycle of the seasons and individual human lives and communities. Set to a new score from award-winning composer Cevanne Horrocks-Hopayian.

This delightful programme from Birmingham Royal Ballet, making its first visit to Malvern Theatres, has been specially designed for families to make ballet even more accessible for younger audiences, whilst still delighting and entertaining adults.

★★★★★ “I think in both cases, these pieces will be superb in drawing people towards ballet. They convey simple and effective stories with plenty of emotion.” Stage Talk Magazine

“fabulous contemporary, creative & artistic interpretations – go see!” @FelicityRead

“Stunning performance, well done all!” @jammajesty

“Just seen seasons and Peter and the Wolf. Concept, choreography, music, costume and dancers all excellent” Ellie Nor, Facebook

Event Reviews

I was a bit unsure about going to see this as I didn’t think it would be my thing. It was excellent. Wonderful dancing and music. The first half, Seasons In Our World, was cleverly choreographed to show all the seasons. The dancing was superb and excellent evocative music made it really special. I thought the urban setting for the well known story of Peter and the Wolf was a clever idea and made it more appealing to a younger audience. Well worth the ticket price
