Michael Lloyd  conductor

Savitri Grier     violin

Walton  Scapino Overture

Elgar Pomp & Circumstance March no 4

Bruch Violin Concerto in G minor (soloist: Savitri Grier)

Gillis Symphony no 5 1/2

Anderson Fiddle Faddle, Plink Plank Plunk, Bugler’s Holiday, Chicken Reel

Williams    The Force Awakens (excerpts), Star Wars (main theme)

Chandos has been fortunate over the years to be able to work with a number of exceptionally talented young musicians, and for this concert the orchestra extends a warm welcome to Savitri Grier as soloist for the hugely popular Bruch Violin Concerto. Having already performed with the Royal Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony, English Chamber and Welsh National Opera orchestras, and made her debuts at Wigmore Hall and Carnegie’s Weill Hall, it is certain that this will be an occasion to remember.

The second half of the concert sees Chandos letting its hair down just a little, with a selection of music that is on the lighter side. From Gillis’s Symphony no 5 1/2 to John Williams’ music from The Force Awakens there should be tunes for everyone to enjoy.

Ticket price includes a £1 contribution to our heritage fund.
