Hit The Road (12A) Borderlines Film Festival – Preview

10th March 2022 7:45 pm

PREVIEW

You’re invited on a joyful, mournful, chaotic and entirely irresistible family road trip in this triumphant first feature from Panah Panahi (son of celebrated Iranian New Wave filmmaker Jafar Panahi).

Dad sits moodily in the back, his leg in a cast, Mum tries to laugh when she’s not holding back tears while the energetic youngster keeps exploding into song and scrambling around the car. All fuss over their sick dog and get on each other’s’ nerves; only the mysterious older brother is quiet. It’s clear they’re on a road trip across a rugged, often extremely beautiful landscape – but where are they headed? Calibrated to the rhythms of a catchy Iranian pop soundtrack, tension, hilarity, and moments of reflection flip one after the other in this condensed but profoundly
affecting scenario.
