The Little Stranger (12A)

28th September 2018 - 4th October 2018

A country doctor is called to the ancestral home of the Ayres family, where he discovers the family hall has fallen into disrepair. But while the family’s historic way of life is falling apart, there’s something more disturbing lurking in the hall. Based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Waters, The Little Stranger stars Ruth Wilson, Domhnall Gleeson and Charlotte Rampling.

The son of a cleaner, Dr. Faraday (Domhnall Gleeson) has carved a comfortable existence for himself as a country doctor. Travelling the countryside treating rural patients, Faraday is called to Hundreds Hall, where his mother was previously employed.

The hall has served as ancestral home to the Ayres family for several centuries, and in the hot summer of 1947, has fallen into disrepair over the years. Mrs Ayres (Charlotte Rampling) still lives in the hall with her two adult children, Caroline (Ruth Wilson) and Roddy (Will Poulter), a disfigured veteran suffering from PTSD.

As Dr. Faraday spends time with the family, he discovers that there is something more haunting about the family than the crumbling walls in which they live. A gothic drama with lingering dread, The Little Stranger is an edge-of-your-seat experience that will leave you feeling as uncomfortable as the characters.

Starring Ruth Wilson (Dark River, Saving Mr. Banks), Domhnall Gleeson (The Revenant, Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Charlotte Rampling (Red Sparrow) and Will Poulter (Detroit), The Little Stranger is based on the novel of the same name by celebrated author Sarah Waters.
