Malvern Festival Chorus

26th November 2017 5:30 pm

Programme

Mozart – Requiem in D Minor

Haydn – Te Deum

Mozart – Solemn Vespers of the Confessor

Soloists will include Emma Hall – Soprano, Susanna Spicer – Mezzo-soprano, and Malvern Festival Chorus’s President James Oxley – Tenor.

Malvern Festival Chorus presents an evening of choral works by two of the most popular composers of the classical period. Mozart’s Requiem, one of his best-loved choral works, was unfinished when he died in 1791 and the question of who contributed to its completion is shrouded in mystery.  This beautiful centrepiece is complemented by Haydn’s Te Deum  commissioned by Empress Marie Therese of Austria and composed around 1799, together with Mozart’s Solemn Vespers of the Confessor written nearly 20 years earlier and the final choral work he composed for Salzburg Cathedral before departing for Vienna.

Ticket price includes a £1 contribution to our heritage fund.
