Midnight Traveller (15)

2nd March 2020 4:15 pm

Midnight Traveller is a gripping vérité documentary made by a family on the run.

When, in 2015, the Taliban puts a bounty on Afghan director Hassan Fazili’s head, he is forced to flee with his wife and two young daughters. Capturing their ‘journey through hell’ as they pass through Turkey into Eastern Europe, Fazili shows first-hand the dangers facing refugees seeking asylum. Over the course of their long and arduous quest for safety, the family made use of their only resource to assert control over their situation: their cameraphones. Their remarkable footage and vision provide a heartrending portrait of a single family holding together in adversity, alongside their many fellow travellers.

Director: Hassan Fazili
Starring: Hassan Fazili, Nargis Fazili, Zahra Fazili
Qatar/UK/Canada/US, 1 hour 28 minutes
