Patience

September 10th 7:30 pm

National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company

PATIENCE

Accompanied by a full Orchestra

For the first time, The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company’s present Patience in Malvern. With its foppish poets, lovesick maidens, beautiful tunes and mesmerising wit, this rip-roaring riot of love will enchant and amuse. Premiering in 1881, Patience portrays the absurdity of love and the over-the-top aspects of the aesthetic movement of 1870s and 80s. This is a light-hearted tale of the rivalry of two poets fighting for the affection of Patience, a milkmaid. English eccentricity at its absurd best. Don’t miss it.

Founded in 1995 to perform at the annual G&S Festival, The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company is renowned for producing simply the very best G&S to be seen anywhere in the world. Their 2019 season of four G&S productions was greeted with great enthusiasm by Malvern audiences and we’re delighted to welcome them back this September with a programme that includes revivals of HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Sorcerer as well as a new production of Patience.
