The Real Charlie Chaplin (U) Borderlines Film Festival

5th March 2022 - 7th March 2022

Find out much that you never knew about one of cinema’s earliest and most elusive icons.

From the directors of critically acclaimed Notes on Blindness, comes an innovative and illuminating documentary about Charles Chaplin. Structured around a previously unheard 1966 interview with Chaplin, it deftly blends audio with photographs, home movies and stunning dramatic reconstructions. It makes for a fascinating portrait of one of the biggest global celebrities ever, charting Chaplin’s rapid rise from a traumatic childhood in a London workhouse via music all to phenomenal fame in Hollywood, his troubling relationships with women and his subsequent fall from grace.
