Do you remember the drummer and the bass guitarist from ABBA. No of course you don’t. They were session musicians who kept in the background musically and otherwise. But you would be very aware of the drummer and the bassist if you attended the performance by this ABBA tribute band. Because for much of the time they were all you could hear, drowning out the two female vocalists. Nobody expects a tribute band to sound exactly like the real thing, but the sound balance was so wrong that we left at the interval. Most of the rest of the audience seemed to be enjoying it. Maybe they know the lyrics so well that they didn’t mind not being able to hear them that particular night.
