The Fight (12A)

6th April 2019

Tina’s having a hard time – she has three children and a husband to care for, along with a full-time job. And now she’s caught between her parents, whose relationship is on the rocks. To deal with the stress, she steps into the boxing ring to learn to fight. Jessica Hynes writes, directs, and stars in this moving drama about a mother trying to keep her family and her self-worth afloat while everything feels like it’s crumbling.

Tina (Jessica Hynes) lives by the sea with her husband, Mick (Shaun Parkes), and their three children. Their lives are full of struggles, which is beginning to put Tina under a lot of stress – and bring out her anger.

Her daughter Emma (Sennia Nannua) is getting bullied. Her mother (Anita Dobson) has kicked Tina’s father (Christopher Fairbank) out of the house and is threatening to leave him. And all of this is happening while Tina must raise her three children while working a full-time job.

Tina’s confidence and happiness are slipping away – but she’s not ready to give up without a fight.

She takes up boxing, bringing her rage into the ring so that she can beat her demons and feel ready to take on whatever life throws at her.

Jessica Hynes (Bridget Jones’s Baby) writes, directs, and stars in The Fight, alongside Shaun Parkes (Line of Duty), Anita Dobson (The Rebel), and Christopher Fairbank (Walk Like a Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy).
