The Lost City of Z (15)

14th April 2017 - 20th April 2017

Event Navigation

Deep in the Amazonian jungle, there lies a fascinating hidden civilisation that predates our own. And Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam) is determined to find it.

It’s the turn of the 20th century and Fawcett is convinced there’s something incredible waiting to be discovered in wildest corner of the planet. As the rest of the world preoccupies itself with the politics of war, he pours over scraps of evidence that point towards an entirely undocumented society that existed within the Amazon rainforest.

But nobody believes him. Or nobody wants to.

Fawcett faces snobbery and adversary from his contemporaries, who dismiss his claims and look down on him for wasting his time on ‘savages’. He doesn’t let it stop him.

With a small team of loyal supporters, including his own son, he ventures into the heart of danger to search for the Lost City of Z.

What the men find threatens to break them: tropical illness, fierce movement in the shadows and exhausting disappointment. As their faith begins to bleed into the river, the party – and their cause – has never felt so lost.

Directed by James Gray and based on the book by David Grann, The Lost City of Z takes us on a thrilling and touching journey of hope and struggle, based on the true story of the British explorer who risked everything for a vision.

The film stars Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy) as Percy Fawcett, Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War) as his son, Jack, and Sienna Miller (Live by Night) as his wife, Nina. Also starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight Saga).
