Malvern Theatre’s Education department has a strong ethos of providing community wide access to the Theatre. We exist in order to provide adults and young people with quality educational opportunities relating to theatre, dance, music, film and art, with a special focus on integrating these events with our seasonal programming. These opportunities range from pre-show talks and post-show discussions, to summer schools and workshops (both at the theatre and in the community), tours, work experience opportunities and dance and drama classes.
Please click on the Take Part brochure for details of our Education work and projects, alternatively you can find more details about what’s on offer using the tabs at the top of the website.

Work Experience Placements at Malvern Theatres
Would you like to experience being part of our Malvern Theatres team?
We offer work experience placements to a few lucky students each year. As you can imagine, we receive a high number of applicants so please see below some hints and tips on your application.
Firstly, we want to hear from YOU rather than your parent or teacher! Lots of people apply for work experience placements at Malvern Theatres and it will help support your application if you are the one who makes contact with us. Any questions then please don’t be afraid to email or phone, but remember we like to speak to you and to hear from yourself why you feel a placement at Malvern Theatres would be suitable.
We strictly only consider students who are aged 16 years or over at the time of their work experience, no person under the age of 16 will be considered for a placement.
Like applying for a job, your application is the first impression we will get of you. We ask that you post or email us a covering letter and a copy of your CV. As well as telling us about yourself, you need to tell us what dates you are looking for work experience and also the department you would like to work in.
We are a receiving house which means that we are not a producing theatre; therefore we cannot offer placements in Set Design, Make-Up, Costume and Directing. We can however offer placements in the following areas; Stage Management, Technical (Sound/Lighting), Administration, Education, Front of House and Marketing. If you think you would like to experience a couple of different areas during your time with us, please make this clear in your application.
It’s worth keeping in mind that both Technical & Front of House placements will involve evening work. It’s a good idea to ensure that you have a form of transport for these occasions and also that parents / guardians are aware that evening work may be applicable.
We usually take students for a maximum of one week, however in certain cases, longer placements can be negotiated.
If your application has been successful, you will be invited for an informal interview. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to us, so come prepared, full of enthusiasm and ready to show us why you would be a great addition to Malvern Theatres.
We meet quarterly to consider work experience placements so please note the following deadlines:
Placements between 1st January – 31st March: Application to be received by 2nd October
Placements between 1st April – 31st June: Application to be received by 2nd January.
Placements between 1st July and 31st September: Application to be received by 2nd April.
Placements between 1st October and 31st December: Application to be received by 2nd July.
We hope that the above information helps your application and if you have any queries please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
