Malvern Theatres is a nationally renowned arts complex set in the heart of the beautiful Malvern Hills AONB.  We are seeking an exceptional individual to contribute to its ongoing success.
 

DEPUTY HEAD OF STAGE

Full time post (37 hours a week) based on a permanent contract with a salary package circa £28-30k.

Malvern Theatres are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the Technical Director and Head of Stage with the day to day running of the Malvern Theatres complex. Maintaining a high standard of workmanship throughout the Theatres and working as a member of the Technical Department in a professional and supportive manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Head of Stage and Technical Director, with all get-ins, stage set-ups, rigging, preparation and get-outs for all performances/events within the complex.
  • To act as Head of Stage/Duty Technician during the running of productions in the complex as required.
  • Liaising effectively with visiting companies.
  • Assisting in the rigging, focusing and operation of lighting equipment.
  • Assisting in the rigging and operation of sound equipment.
  • Rigging lifting equipment (chain hoists and motors) and have a working knowledge of flying systems.
  • Act as a fire marshal in emergency situations and during fire training.
  • To schedule, carry out and supervise maintenance work to a high standard.
  • To deputise for the Head of Stage in their absence.

TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICS)

It would be desirable for the ideal candidate to possess the following skills:

  • Good all-round technical knowledge, able to operate/install lighting and sound equipment
  • Forward thinking and planning are essential
  • Stage craft and theatre etiquette
  • Previous experience within a multi-purpose/multi-functional venue.
  • A qualification in portable appliance testing.
