After The Wedding (12A)

8th November 2019 7:45 pm

Based in India, Isabel has spent her life helping those less fortunate. Learning of a generous potential donation for her orphanage, she heads straight to New York to meet the wealthy benefactor. But as events unfold, Isabel discovers that there’s an unsavoury mystery that comes with the cash. Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and Billy Crudup star in this drama.

Managing a struggling orphanage in Kolkata, humanitarian worker Isabel (Michelle Williams) has dedicated her life towards helping the children she works with. But the area is underprivileged, and Isabel is desperate for further resources.

So, when word reaches her Indian base that a wealthy American benefactor is readying a multimillion-dollar donation for the orphanage, Isabel prepares herself for a trip to New York to accept.

Landing in the States, Isabel is introduced to her generous sponsor, Theresa (Julianne Moore), but is informed the deal will have to wait until after the weekend. With Theresa’s daughter, Grace (Abby Quinn), due to be married in the coming days, the tycoon can’t possibly give the agreement the attention it needs.

Unexpectedly invited to the wedding, Isabel reluctantly settles in with her host. But as she discovers Theresa’s husband (Billy Crudup) is a man from her past, secrets from years ago begin to unravel, and Isabel starts to believe there’s more to the deal than meets the eye.

Directed by Bart Freundlich, this dramatic American remake of the 2006 Danish film of the same name stars Academy Award winner Julianne Moore (Suburbicon, Still Alice, Maps to the Stars), four-time nominee Michelle Williams (Venom, The Greatest Showman, Manchester by the Sea) and Tony Award winner Billy Crudup (Alien: Covenant, Jackie, Spotlight).
