Compartment No.6 (15) Borderlines Film Festival – Preview

17th March 2022 5:00 pm

PREVIEW

All aboard for Juho Kuosmanen’s follow-up to The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki.

Sweet-natured Finnish archaeology student Laura is travelling from Moscow to Murmansk to view the region’s mysterious ancient petroglyphs. On an uncomfortable train in the freezing cold, she is obliged to share compartment no. 6 with boorish, drunk and misogynistic Russian miner Vadim. Yet somehow, as they travel across the frozen wastes, the hostility between them begins to thaw.

Never cloying and bubbling with visual humour, it evokes a mode of pre-digital era travel that’s delightful in the surprises it brings.

Co-winner, Grand Prix, Cannes Film Festival 2021
Shortlisted for Best International Feature (Finland) Oscar
