Battle of the Sexes (12A)

8th December 2017 - 13th December 2017

A real-life biography of the infamous 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and ex-champ Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell).

Based on the most televised sports event of all time, this captivating tale depicts the events leading up to the on-screen rivalry between world number one tennis champion Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and ex-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs (Steve Carrell).

In the limelight, the duo are caught up in a conflicting battle of the sexes. But off court, each are wrestling with complex personal struggles they cover up in fear of damaging their reputations.

King is fighting for equal pay while coming to terms with her own sexuality and Riggs (Steve Carrell) is grappling with his past gambling demons, at the risk of jeopardising his family. The fiery pair put a spotlight on societal struggles that still affect people around the world today.

Directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), this comedy-drama is host to a stellar cast with Emma Stone (La La Land) and Steve Carrell (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) putting in a remarkable performance.
