We are delighted to introduce Audio Description (AD) to Malvern Cinema.

Audio-described screenings bring on-screen action to life for patrons with visual impairments. During gaps in the film’s dialogue, a narrator’s voice will play through the headphones explaining all the action on screen, including style and design, sets, costumes, facial expressions, relationships between characters and visual jokes. Please ask a member of staff for details, we have a range of headphones to ensure you have something that you are comfortable with.

Head of Development Emma Maggs said: “We are delighted to be able to offer audio description in our cinema. As a registered charity, we are keen to remove any potential barriers to arts access. For the first time at Malvern Theatres, anyone living with visual impairment will be able to fully experience the shared enjoyment of watching a film with friends.”

Where Audio Description is available on a selected film, we will advertise this on the film’s webpage here on our website, on the cinema leaflet available at the Box Office, and we will share on our Malvern Talking Newspaper audio listings. You can also search for Audio Described films HERE
