Adapted by Call the Midwife’s Heidi Thomas from Alan Bennett’s 2018 play of the same name, Richard Eyre’s Allelujah is a warm and spirited story of old age and UK community activism.

A stellar cast including Jennifer Saunders, David Bradley, Derek Jacobi and Judi Dench make up some of the very idiosyncratic residents of a small Yorkshire hospital (‘the Beth’), specialising in geriatric care. When the hospital is threatened with closure, its supporters decide to fight back, galvanising the local community and inviting a news crew to film their preparations for a concert in honour of its most distinguished nurse (the stern but kind Sister Gilpin). What could possibly go wrong?

DIRECTOR: Richard Eyre

AUDIO DESCRIPTION AVAILABLE

Please note: All entry to Malvern Cinema is currently through the fire exits located at the front (Grange Road) side of the building. For audience members entering through the rear (Park) doors, entry to the Cinema is via the corridor adjacent to Door 6 of the Forum Theatre. We very much regret that, for reasons of safety, there will be no wheelchair access to Malvern Cinema until further notice.  Because of this we will be substantially increasing the number of film screenings in the Forum Theatre, which remains accessible to wheelchair users.  For more access information please click HERE.
