English Symphony Orchestra – Echoes of Oppression

The English Symphony Orchestra (ESO) returns to Malvern Theatres, conducted by Kenneth Woods. They are joined by soloist Chloe Hanslip for Tchaikovsky’s famous Violin Concerto. In the second half of the concert the orchestra perform Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5, written whilst the composer was living in fear during Stalin’s 1930s terror.
