The House with a Clock in its Walls (12A)

27th October 2018 - 28th October 2018

An orphan boy is sent to live with his eccentric uncle, in a creepy mansion that never stops ticking… This gothic-horror for families stars Jack Black and Cate Blanchett, with stunning visual effects and a creepy story of magic and mischief that will delight viewers of all ages.

Lewis Barnavelt (Owen Vaccaro) is a young boy with no options. As his parents are dead, he has to travel to meet his estranged uncle, Jonathan (Jack Black).

Eccentric is the kindest word to describe Jonathan – many would call him downright odd. But his unusual behaviour is explained by the fact that he’s actually a warlock (though he is not a very good one). His next-door neighbour and best friend, Mrs Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett), is also a witch, and much better at it than Jonathon.

The house in which Jonathon and now Lewis live is another oddity that Lewis must quickly learn how to cope with. It holds a deep secret, one that causes dark magic to dance and burst from the walls unexpectedly.

But the tentacles that creep from the closet are nothing compared to what the house’s magic could do, if a sinister witch named Selena Izzard (Renee Elise Goldsberry) gets her way…

The House with a Clock in Its Walls is adapted from the book of the same name, written by John Bellairs in the early 1970s. This gothic horror is a creepy romp for all the family, starring screen favourites Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok) and Jack Black (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), alongside Owen Vaccaro (Daddy’s Home).
