FANFAN LA TULIPE 1952 (A) – B&W 102 mins (adventure/comedy/romance) Christian-Jaque
Roguish Fanfan (Gérard Philippe) escapes being wed to a farm girl when a gypsy, Adeline (Gina Lollobrigida), predicts that he’ll find glory in the army, then marry a princess. After enlisting he learns that Adeline is the recruiter’s daughter and invented the prediction. He decides to make the fortune come true and in a sword fight rescues the king’s daughter, which convinces him that fate is on his side.
