Michael Portillo

June 22nd 7:00 pm

Malvern Civic Society is proud to introduce its 2024 Malvern Lecture.

Michael Portillo was a Conservative Member of Parliament for most of the period 1984-2005 and was a minister for eleven years in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major.  After leaving politics, he continued to make radio and television programmes and was for sixteen years a fixture on BBC1’s late night political satire “This Week”. It is now sixteen years since he began making documentaries for BBC2 featuring rail journeys – which have featured five continents – and he is making new series this year. For Channel 5 he has recently completed series on Andalucía and on long weekends in various European cities.  His GB News programme on Sundays, features politics and arts.
