The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (12A)

28th April 2023 - 11th May 2023

An uplifting tale of self-discovery, redemption and learning to seize the moment. THE UNLIKELY PILGRIMAGE OF HAROLD FRY tells the story of a man who leaves his seaside town in South Devon to deliver a message to an old friend.

Harold Fry (Jim Broadbent) was never meant to be a hero. He’s an unremarkable man who has failed at all the important things: being a husband, a father and a friend. Now, well into his 60s, he is content to fade quietly into the background of life. But when Harold learns his friend Queenie is dying, he is moved to act. He leaves home, walking to the post box to send her a letter, until he realises a letter is not enough. In that moment Harold decides to keep walking, all the way to her hospice, some 500 miles away in Berwick-upon-Tweed: as long as he walks, Queenie must live. Surprising himself as much as his wife Maureen (Penelope Wilton), Harold embarks on a walk of hope, determined to travel the length of England to save his friend.

ST Subtitled Screening: Thursday 4th May, 5pm

Please note: All entry to Malvern Cinema is currently through the fire exits located at the front (Grange Road) side of the building. For audience members entering through the rear (Park) doors, entry to the Cinema is via the corridor adjacent to Door 6 of the Forum Theatre. We very much regret that, for reasons of safety, there will be no wheelchair access to Malvern Cinema until further notice.  Because of this we will be substantially increasing the number of film screenings in the Forum Theatre, which remains accessible to wheelchair users.  For more access information please click HERE.

Road Closure: Between 3rd and 28th April the road passing the front of the building (Grange Road) will be closed to vehicles.  The road will remain accessible to pedestrians.
