A mother/daughter relationship heads into crisis as a woman astronaut prepares for a one-year mission aboard the International Space Station.
Sarah is a French astronaut training at the European Space Agency in Cologne. She is the only woman in the arduous programme, and lives alone with Stella, her seven year old daughter. Sarah feels guilty that she cannot spend more time with her child, and that emotional tie is her Achilles’ heel in a training programme that requires her to withstand enormous physical pressures and zero gravity. With rigorous authenticity, Winocour sets the personal pull against professional obligations in a context that is heightened to astronomical proportions.
