The best wedding ever, the best wedding yet,
The wedding that no one will ever forget.
Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay are excellent scarecrows (they scare a lot of crows). Harry loves Betty, and Betty loves Harry, so they decide to get married and Harry sets off to search for their wedding day essentials including a dress of feathers, a bunch of flowers and a necklace made from shells.
However, when the farmer notices he is missing a scarecrow, he replaces Harry with the devilishly smooth but dangerous Reginald Rake. Dashing, daring and ever so cool, can Reginald persuade Betty that he is the scarecrow for her? Will Harry make it back in the nick of time before Reginald ruins their special day?
This truly heart-warming adaptation of Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler’s bestselling book is bursting at the seams with Scamp Theatre’s inimitable style (Stick Man, Tiddler & Other Terrific Tales) and promises wit, drama, and wedding bells!

Something very much for the kids for the rest of the week at the Malvern Forum with The Scarecrows’ Wedding, an adaptation of the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler by Scamp Theatr, coming straight from the West End.
Betty O’Barley and Harry O’Hay are not just successful scarecrows - they are also in love and want to get married. And so it comes to pass that the farmer's scarecrows need to find the various components of a wedding, such as two rings, some wedding bells and some flowers. And feathers for a dress.
There is, however, a fly in the ointment as when Harry appears to go missing is replaced by devilishly cool but dangerous - and French - Reginald Rake (who controversially smokes a cigar but as he sets fire to the place, it is clear that smoking is bad for you…)
Three actors play the various roles, entering from the back of the audience and chatting to the kids on their way down to the stage at the start of the performance. And the farmer cleverly transforms himself into a number of different characters such as a snail, a bee and a frog who all help find the items needed for the upcoming nuptials.
The kids in the audience obviously loved it, clapping along to the songs and cheering and laughing - and so did the adults, typically either parents or grandparents happy to have their offspring amused for an hour in what is a great introduction to live theatre without it being panto…

I took my daughter, who is almost three and she was transfixed from start to finish! Scamp theatre's production was really magical. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and my daughter laughed out loud, gasped and pointed throughout. Her review: "It was lovely and so funny!"
