Welcoming back the fabulous Korean soprano Elena Dee, Ukrainian sopranos Alyona Kistenyova and Katerina Timbaliuk from the Odessa Opera* together with celebrated Ukrainian mezzo soprano Irina Sproglis*.
Back by overwhelming public demand, this award-winning Opera returns in a new production with exquisite sets including a spectacular Japanese garden and fabulous costumes including antique wedding kimonos from Japan.
One of the world’s most popular operas, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly tells the heart-breaking story of the beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results. Highlights include the melodic ‘Humming Chorus’, the moving aria ‘One Fine Day’ and the unforgettable ‘Love Duet’.
Live performance sung in Italian with English subtitles.

So good to be back in live Theatre.
Finale support to the brave Ukrainian people very moving,brought me to Tears -
They where amazing. I feel really bad for booing at Mr Pilinson at the end…. the boo was for the part he played… not for him. But we where not aware that the cast was Ukrainian. I am fully behind them. They are so brave.

Well, I thought the opera was going to be emotional but at the end when the Ukrainian flag was brought out to a huge cheer from the audience to be followed by the cast singing the Ukrainian National Anthem, accompanied by clapping from the audience, wow. I felt suddenly very proud of the British people.
