Armonico Consort: 20th Birthday Celebration

1st October 2021 7:30 pm

ARMONICO CONSORT & BAROQUE PLAYERS
ENGLISH CORNETT & SACKBUT ENSEMBLE
DIRECTOR
 CHRISTOPHER MONKS

HEINRICH BIBER MISSA SALISBURGENSIS À 53
ALESSANDRO STRIGGIO MISSA SOPRA ECCO SÌ BEATO GIORNO (60 – PART MASS)
THOMAS TALLIS SPEM IN ALIUM

Over the past 20 years, Armonico Consort has secured a reputation for staging spectacular large-scale concerts in ‘medieval surround sound’ which have earned us several 5 star reviews in the national press along the way. What better way to celebrate our 20th birthday milestone than with a tour of our most epic concert to date, featuring the most incredible music ever written.

Join us as we celebrate with this unique programme of multi-part polyphonic works from the 16th century. Immerse yourself in the astounding sound world that we will re-create as our performers surround the audience to explore the genius of Tallis’ Spem in Alium and Striggio’s 60 part Missa sopra Ecco si Beato Giorno and the majestic splendour of the trumpet and drum fanfares found in Heinrich Biber’s Missa Salisburgensis, all interspersed with the timeless simplicity and beauty of Hildegard of Bingen’s plainchants.
