The Beguiled (15)

18th August 2017 - 24th August 2017

An injured Union offer is imprisoned in a Confederate girls’ boarding school, and thinks up a novel but treacherous way to spend his time there.

It’s the 19th century and America is in the midst of a civil war – one that will go down in history. Amidst the chaos and carnage of the front lines, an injured Union officer is cooped up in a Confederate girls’ boarding school.

Injured and imprisoned, the solider must pass his time there in some way, but how?

Surrounded by women, he gets to know many of them personally, conning his way into each of their hearts.

Lonely and eventually angry, the women all turn on one another when these acts of betrayal are discovered, but what will happen when the target for their anger points at him?

The Beguiled stars Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as the imprisoned Union officer and twister of hearts, and is supported on screen by Elle Fanning (Maleficent), Nicole Kidman (Secret in Their Eyes), and Kirsten Dunst (Bachelorette), as three of the women whom he targets with his affections.

Directed by Sophia Coppola, daughter of the notable Francis Ford Coppola, she has previously helmed box office successes such as Lost in Translation in 2003.
