A loving friendship between two young boys is irrevocably disrupted in Lukas Dhont’s (Girl) evocative coming-of-age drama.

13-year-old best friends Léo and Rémi are inseparable. Making first steps towards adulthood, they enjoy a tender and intense bond; so close that their parents treat them almost like brothers. But when they start high school and become newly self-conscious around their peers, pressured towards greater sophistication and independence, their relationship deteriorates, tearing them suddenly and tragically apart. With tremendous performances from newcomers Dambrine and de Waele as the two boys, Close registers the profound shock and grief that the loss of teen friendships brings, the painfulness of falling foul of codes of youthful masculinity.

Please note: All entry to Malvern Cinema is currently through the fire exits located at the front (Grange Road) side of the building. For audience members entering through the rear (Park) doors, entry to the Cinema is via the corridor adjacent to Door 6 of the Forum Theatre. We very much regret that, for reasons of safety, there will be no wheelchair access to Malvern Cinema until further notice.  Because of this we will be substantially increasing the number of film screenings in the Forum Theatre, which remains accessible to wheelchair users.  For more access information please click HERE.
