Produced by the Safdie brothers, Owen Kline’s directorial debut is a coming-of-age tale about a wannabe cartoonist reaching a crucial point in his life.
Aspiring cartoonist Robert believes that to be an artist is to suffer, so, he gives up his affluent Princeton upbringing and drops out of high school in favour of a life fully committed to his art. He finds an unwilling teacher and unwitting friend in ex-comic artist Wallace, but ignores Wallace’s borderline-deranged personality…
Director Owen Kline’s boisterously funny script plays as an acerbically witty, outrageously sweet comedy of misfits that captures everyday life through the same bizarre prism as the beloved comics themselves. In turns weird, exciting, and unpredictable FUNNY PAGES is an indie triumph.
Cert: 18
Running time: 1hr 26mins
Please note: From 12th September all entry to Malvern Cinema will be through the fire exits located at the front (Grange Road) side of the building. For audience members entering through the rear (Park) doors, entry to the Cinema is via the corridor adjacent to Door 6 of the Forum Theatre. We very much regret that, for reasons of safety, there will be no wheelchair access to Malvern Cinema until further notice. Because of this we will be substantially increasing the number of film screenings in the Forum Theatre, which remains accessible to wheelchair users. For more access information please click HERE.
