Pond Life (15) including Q&A with director Bill Buckhurst

14th March 2019 8:00 pm

BORDERLINES FILM FESTIVAL PREVIEW

Director: Bill Buckhurst

Starring: Tom Varey, Esmé Creed-Miles, Angus Imrie

UK, 2017, 1 hour 40 minutes

With a fantastic original score by Richard Hawley, first feature Pond Life sits in the great British tradition of films about postindustrial communities.

Summer 1994, in a quiet mining village just outside Doncaster, rumour stirs about a giant carp in the nearby decoy ponds. Young Trevor keeps watch one night at the water’s edge. The following night, he leads a brigade of friends and neighbours on a fishing expedition. In a world of broken families, cassette tapes and rumbling political fever, these friends, each with their own struggles to bear, share a moment of harmony as they witness the carp for themselves.

Director Bill Buckhurst will introduce the screening in Malvern with a Q&A to follow.
